Week of March 8, 2010

Monday:  Finish all 6 (or 7) rough drafts for your Olympic report.

Tuesday:

  • YOUR ROUGH DRAFTS ARE DUE TODAY!
  • Start your final draft tonight. Revise and Edit.

Wednesday: Work on your final draft.  Don't forget CHOPS.

Thursday:

  • Finish your final draft of your Olympic report. 
  • It is due tomorrow.
  • Remember to hand in your pre-writing activities too.
  • web, 2 column notes, all 6 of your rough draft paragraphs

Friday: RELAX. Read an A.R. book this weekend.

Avon fundraising packets have been sent home

and will be due Friday March 12, 2010.

March 1, 2010

Grades close for the 1st half of the 3rd term on Thursday of this week.

You will be allowed to make up any failing grade after school on that day. *March 4, 2010*

Monday

    Vocabulary:

    Define the 2 words you chose today from your  Olympic research.

    Writing:

  • Be sure you have enough facts for your research.
  • We will finalize our 2 column notes and start our 1st detail paragraph tomorrow.

Tuesday-Thursday

    Vocabulary For Olympians is due Friday.  STUDY YOUR WORDS.

  • Choose 2 words.
  • Illustrate them.
  • Be sure to write the word with the picture.
  • Be sure to define the word.
  • Write a caption using the word and explaining the picture with context clues.
  • Use cursive handwriting, ink, and color for the pictures.

Friday

  • Remember, the rough draft for your IRP is due on Tuesday.
  • It should have at least four detail paragraphs.
  • It should also have a clear introductory (opening) paragraph and a clear closing paragraph.
  • If you want to earn extra credit, include up to five of this week's vocabulary words. (2 pts. each, if they are used correctly)
  • Example: The snowboarder's jump was elegant in style and execution.

Week of Feb. 22, 2010

Monday:

  • Study for your vocab. test tomorrow.
  • Read an AR book for at least 20 minutes.

Tuesday:

  • Choose your topic for your 7 paragraph essay on the Winter Olympics.
  • Find at least 5 facts about your topic; write them down if you found them watching coverage on T.V. Underline or highlight them if you clip the facts from the newspaper or download from the internet.

Wednesday:   SNOW DAY!

Thursday:  

See Tuesday if you have not yet completed that assignment.

Friday: 

  • Research, research, research.
  • Gets facts for your Winter Olympic Report.
  • Main Topic: Five Subtopics
  • Example--LUGE: 1. Rules, 2. History, 3. Famous Atheletes, 4. Clothing/Equipment, 5.Fans around the world
